A sworn translation is the official translation of a document. This is a type of translation required for those documents written in another language required to have legal effect before any official body to which it is submitted, thus gaining an official status before these authorities. The sworn translations are always printed on paper, signed and stamped by a sworn translator certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the corresponding competent authority.
It is important not to confuse sworn translations with legal translations, consisting of translation of only legal documents.
